GeneralAFFENPINSCHER
Country of origin: Germany
Short history of the breed. The Affenpinscher is a very old breed. The breed was portraied many times during the fifteenth and at the beginning of the sixteenth century by the artists Jan van Eyck and Albrecht Durer. In the last decades of the nineteenth century a short summary under the name Affenpinscher was given in the German pedigree about the short, long and rough-haired dwarfpinscher. It wasn't until 1896 the breed was divided into Affenpinscher and shorthaired dwarfpinschers. In the original breeddescription the Affenpinscher was described as a little devil filled with poison and gall and with that they meant that it was a little devil to anyone he did not know. Maybe that was the case then, but nowadays he is significant more social, a good watchdog and a enjoyable dog who attaches strongly to his own people.
