Short history of the breed:This breed was developed by taking two English breeds, the Beagle and the Harrier and breed them. The opinions whether this happened in England first or in France are devided. They became a pack hound for the hunt of bunnies. The dogs are rarely shown at exhibitions.
Description of the breed:The Beagle Harrier is a moderately high, strong, lively dog
Head: rather powerful, moderately broad skull, flat nose, moderate stop. Nose and skull are of similar length.
Eyes: dark with a lively expression
Ears: set at the height of the eyes, rather large and broad, with rounded tips, at the front slightly turned outside.
Teeth: not mentioned in the breedstandard
Body: deep, broad and rather long chest, strong back, strong and straight forelegs with good bone, muscular
Movement: free and lively
Coat: moderately short, smooth and dense
Colours: tricoloured - brown, white and black
Shoulderheight: 45-50 cm.
