Short history of the breed:The American Bashkir Curly is an extraordinary breed which has many unique qualities. There is some mystery surrounding its origin. This is a very old breed and was rediscovered in 1898 in the Peter Hanson mountains in Nevada. Thwo riders discovered three curlycoated horses living in the wild and now many of the Curlys can be traced back to that original herd. In 1971 the American
Bashkir Curly Registry was opened.
Description of the breed:Head: rather heavy, great width across the forehead, with oriental type eyes.
Body: short, muscular neck, stoutly built and muscular through the body frame, nicely proportioned.
Movement: they have a natural "foxtrot" or "running-walk"
Colour: all colours are permitted
Shoulder height: 1,55 - 1,62 m
Possibilites for use: riding, jumping, carriage, workinghorse
Charakter:The American Bashkir Curly is a very friendly horse. They have a tractable temperament, they are tough and enduring and able to withstand the most extreme climate conditions.
Their most striking feature is their coat which is extremely curly in the winter.
