Short history of the breed:The Barb comes from the coastal belt of Northwest Africa, countries such as Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia and like the Arab have a tremendous effect on many breeds of horses. They are an extremely ancient breed, and little is known about their exact origins. They do bear similarities to the postulated primitive Horse type 3. It is likely that the Barb contains Arabian blood.
Breed description:Head: dry with straight profile
Eyes: expressive, oriental
Ears: curved
Body: muscular, long neck which curves gently to the poll. Rather flat and straight shoulders, deep chest but can be quite narrow, sloping quarters, low-set tail, slender legs but extremely tough and strong.
Movement: very wide, good jumper
Possibilities for use: riding horse
Colour: gray, brown, bay, chestnut
Shoulder height: not over 1,45 m.
Charakter:The Barb is very reliable, with lots of temperament en great stamina
